Meet Taiwan to Attend IMEX America for the First Time
As part of the Bureau of Foreign Trade’s (BOFT) Taiwan MICE Advancement Program, Meet Taiwan will for the first time attend IMEX America, held in Las Vegas from October 9 through 11 this year (2012). The aim is to reach organisations, associations, and other related industries along the North American west coast and increase Taiwan’s opportunity to be selected as one of their MICE destinations. Besides exhibiting at IMEX America, Meet Taiwan will hold a presentation to introduce Taiwan as an ideal MICE destination. Such promotion can help to expand contacts with target groups, improve the effectiveness of promotion efforts, and attract more international organisations to hold their events in Taiwan. IMEX’s high rate of return visitors, mature level of development, “Appointment System for Exhibitors,” and free seminars make BOFT’s attendance extremely worthwhile.
Utilizing the IMEX Germany Online Diary service
IMEX America, now in its second year, is an extension of IMEX, which is held in Frankfurt, Germany each May. IMEX Germany’s online IMEX Appointment System for Exhibitors and interactive section of its website have both received high praise from participants. This year’s IMEX America, taking advantage of this existing technology, has for the first time utilized the online IMEX Appointment System, which has been unanimously endorsed by North American buyers. This specialised system has an online diary that enables all buyers to use their own independent account to make appointments with exhibitors. This year, buyers have their own individual e-mail boxes. After collecting information about all exhibitors and creating a daily summary, the system sends an email to the buyer mailboxes, so they will not miss out on any of the market’s newest trends or invitations to events or networking dinners. This system already passed muster during IMEX Germany. 50% of the hosted buyers gave it positive marks, and the system reached originally specified effectiveness goals. The newest IMEX e-mail boxes will be in use at IMEX America for both hosted buyers and individual visitors, so they can efficiently get the most out of the show.
High rate of return exhibitors and free educational seminars
As of the end of July, around 20% of the previous exhibitors had already decided to attend this year’s show and signed up for larger booths. Of these, over 50% are buying double their previous space. During IMEX America there will also be over 100 seminars provided free to all participants. As part of these educational events, Meeting Professionals International will hold a full day of meetings and workshops called “Smart Monday” on October 8. Speakers, including many key international MICE players and members of academic and industry associations and professional MICE organisations, will share their invaluable perspectives. Participants can sign up for these events through the IMEX America mobile app.
Meet Taiwan's first foray into North America’s west coast market
After carefully assessing the effectiveness of attending, Meet Taiwan and two local companies, GIS Group and Willy Event Consultants Co Ltd., signed up to participate in IMEX America. The group will invite targeted buyers for meetings and will participate in relevant forums in order to gather information about other international meetings and exhibitions. Meet Taiwan has also organised an event to introduce Taiwan as an ideal MICE destination. This presentation will help to expand contacts with targeted groups and enhance publicity, thereby attracting more international organisations to hold their events in Taiwan.
