Korean convention bureau becomes first in Asia to join the network of cities promoting hybrid conferences and co-operating on post-Covid events recovery, and Fairmont Seoul joins the Seoul MICE Alliance.
Seoul Convention Bureau plans to strengthen its post-Covid international influence after becoming the first business events marketing organisation in Asia to join the Hybrid City Alliance, the global network of cities using online and offline conference formats. The South Korea capital is co-operating with convention bureaus in The Hague, Geneva, Ottawa, and Durban, to find the best online and hybrid meeting solutions for international event planners.
Hybrid City Alliance offers a single contact point in which cities with good conference infrastructure can share expertise as the global industry recovers from the Covid pandemic.
“As a convention bureau with a strong local alliance, Seoul understands the value of building connections,” said Eun-mi Kim, Seoul Convention Bureau director. “Becoming a part of the Hybrid City Alliance is such a wonderful opportunity for the convention bureau to be a trusted gateway for Seoul and other cities.”
“With this new international alliance, Seoul’s MICE industry is even more prepared to advance the feasible digital solutions which will be a part of industry even after the pandemic,” Eun-mi Kim says.
Meanwhile, the Seoul MICE Alliance has recruited 18 new members despite the Covid downturn. Members include the newly opened Fairmont Hotel with the largest number of recruits joining the PCO category.
