Learning & development (L&D) professionals will once again come together to discuss the opportunities and challenges around designing learning programmes that make a difference, in an exclusive event hosted by Nick Shackleton-Jones, CEO and Founder of Shackleton Consulting.
Taking place on Wednesday 5 October, the hybrid event Creating a Winning Culture Through L&D will be hosted at Warwick Conferences, with Nick Shackleton-Jones exploring ways to deliver a new model of learning that fits the modern workplace.
In a time when retaining staff is growing in importance, the event will aid L&D professionals in redesigning onboarding processes and programmes that help create a sense of workplace culture. It follows research by PwC from earlier this summer, which showed that almost 20 per cent of UK workers expected to leave their job in the next 12 months. With businesses looking for ways to keep their staff, more attention is expected to turn toward L&D professionals.
During the 50-minute event, Nick will explain why we struggle to see a return on expectations, providing examples of award-winning onboarding work related to a human-centred learning design. Those attending in person will be given the opportunity to take part in an intimate Q&A session with Nick Shackleton-Jones, allowing professionals to further understand specific areas of focus.
Nick Shackleton-Jones said: “We have seen a complete shift in workplace cultures in the last 24 months. Flexible working is now the first element advertised on job descriptions, with many companies adopting some form of work-from-home policy. It is therefore unsurprising that employers are facing challenges in engaging their team and recreating a workplace culture that existed before the pandemic.
“It’s imperative that, given the challenges surrounding staff retention that organisations currently face, employers must evolve their approach to L&D. Businesses must utilise the opportunities to meet the current needs of today’s workforce by focusing on experiences, providing a successful return on expectations.”
Nick Shackleton-Jones is the CEO and Founder of Shackleton Consulting. He offers leading thinking and proven expertise, having helped organisations measurably improve the performance and experience of their employees through a revolutionary approach to L&D.
Creating a Winning Culture Through L&D will be the second in a series of events hosted by Warwick Conferences supporting the L&D industry. Earlier this year, the award-winning venue hosted the Learning & Performance Institute and other industry professionals to discuss the industry trends and challenges.
Gail Tomlinson-Short, Head of Business Development at Warwick Conferences, said: “As alumni of the University of Warwick, we are delighted to welcome Nick to our latest L&D event. His proven expertise in helping organisations improve the performance and experience of their employees through a new-found approach to learning and development will prove invaluable to attendees.”
