Dublin had a big night at the 2021 Meetings & Incentive Travel Industry Awards (M&IT Awards), with a win for The Convention Centre Dublin (The CCD) and Dublin Convention Bureau. The CCD won the award for Best Overseas Conference Venue at this year’s M&IT Awards, which took place on Friday 8 October at Evolution London. This followed the announcement, just minutes before, that Dublin Convention Bureau took gold for Best Overseas Convention Bureau. The M&IT Awards recognise and reward excellence and are voted by UK based event organisers and the readers of Meetings & Incentive Travel magazine.
This is the ninth time The CCD has won Gold in this category, taking home Silver in 2011 and 2017. There was strong competition this year, with other international venues including Barcelona International Convention Centre, ICC Sydney and RAI Amsterdam also nominated in this category.
Stephen Meehan, Chief Executive of The CCD, who attended the awards on the night, commented, “It’s great to see Dublin take home two awards tonight, with Dublin Convention Bureau also taking home gold. To win Best Overseas Conference Centre is a terrific achievement and recognition of our team’s hard work and passion. We recently hosted our national tourism board’s industry briefing, marking Ireland and Dublin as back open for business. At this turning point for the industry, we are excited to welcome delegates back to Ireland and The CCD for face-to-face events again.”
The CCD has hosted over 2,000 events and won 53 awards since opening.
