ICCA Congress 2023 in Bangkok concluded with the sustainability legacy success. In cooperation with ICCA, Thailand exercised the practice of sustainable food sourcing and management during the congress, which has become a model for the Bangkok Pledge on Gastronomy Sustainability to be launched at ICCA Congress 2024 in Abu Dhabi.
Another key result of the sustainable congress in Bangkok is the reduction of 505 tons of carbon dioxide equivalent through all domestic gathering activities. The impacts are achieved against the record-breaking performance of ICCA Congress 2023, which attracted 1,123 delegates from 80 countries, making it the largest Congress ever held in the Asia Pacific region and the third largest globally.
ICCA Congress 2023 was held between 12 and 15 November 2023 at Queen Sirikit National Convention Center (QSNCC).
Chiruit Isarangkun Na Ayuthaya, President of Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB), stated that: “TCEB is honoured to share an ambitious goal with ICCA in the area of sustainability, and we can deliver it in a practical and measurable term as demonstrated by our food sourcing and food waste management. The Bangkok Pledge on Gastronomy Sustainability is a concrete legacy of ICCA Congress 2023 in Bangkok. It proves Thailand’s commitment to measurable sustainability as a MICE industry-driving strategy, which is being laid for the future sustainable performance of ICCA events.
